Within Venice tradition of glass manufacturing, Murano Island certainly holds the leading role: it concretely helped in preserving one among the most evocative arts through the centuries, keeping its charm in the passing of time and the unreserved devotion required by artistic creation. Among many glass Maestroes grown on Murano, one stands out thanks to his creativity: Alessandro Barbaro who, since the beginning of the third millennium, started an itinerary of technical research and artistic fulfillment along with the commercial production. |

In the heat of his furnace Alessandro Barbaro shapes glass by using big scissors and heavy tools in a surrounding apparently unsuitable and inhospitable for such a transparent and fragile material. Alessandro’s touch and ability give birth to elegant and moving horses, to powerful ,wild lions and tigers, to graceful deers and gazelles. His talent, emerging from commercial production, finds his expression in conceptual and figurative creations, such as optical effects of vases looking like aquariums or sculptures depicting human heads and animals. |

Maestro Barbaro is supported by talented Davide Zanella, a young glass artist and glass blower assistant. They have created a new unity between the latest tradition of “massiccio” (Heavy sculptures) and the ancient tradition of soffiato (glass blowing). After the amazing international success of Colosseo work displayed at Las Vegas Hotel Venetian and the double fountain displayed in Hotel Europa&Regina in Venice, he is working on an elephant series of tooth (cm 180 high each) to be displayed as lanterns in a german castle.
